General Information

Welcome to Clifton

As you browse through our pages you will get a feel that Clifton is indeed the "Ideal place to grow Children". Ours is a school where children come first and where fun and intrigue is a daily menu. If you are interested in a boarding at the primary school age, you are in the right place.

Clifton was established in 1942 and has consistently offered experience and expertise in termly, weekly and periodic prep school boarding.

Our beautiful rural setting in the foothills of the Drakensberg offers the children opportunities that cannot be replicated in urban schools. The freedom and safety of the children on our 60ha estate and the surrounding farmlands has to be experienced to be understood. Our Vision
To be the ideal place to grow children

Our Mission
To provide a home from home for all our children, utilising our unique and beautiful surroundings. We aim to establish sound academic structures within small classes while focusing on developing the individuality of each child. We acknowledge the potential of each child to make a difference, and in so doing equip our boys and girls to face the challenges of life in contemporary South Africa and the world in general.

Our Values
Clifton Preparatory School is an inclusive inter-denominational Christian school. We hold the values of honesty, integrity and tolerance at our core. In all areas of pursuit, fair play, good manners and wholehearted effort are encouraged. Good citizenship is developed in our children to assist them in becoming contributing members of whatever community they live in.

Our Position
Clifton Preparatory School is a co-educational day and boarding school in a picturesque rural setting in the Midlands of KwaZulu-Natal. The high academic standards set through our close association with the major independent senior schools of the Midlands region are complemented by a full and varied extra-mural programme.

Clifton is governed by a Board of Trustees and a Board of Directors. The school is owned by the trust and all authority for the governance of the school vests in the trustees.
